Nearly 30 local restaurateurs will pull out their secret chili recipes and then the public will decide who takes home the titles for Best Meat Chili and Best Veggie Chili at the WMSE Rockabilly Chili Cook-off. The competition heats up 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 3 at the Lakefront Brewery Palm Garden (1872 N. Commerce St.). It is the independent station's third annual chili cook-off. Admission is $3 and each bowl of chili costs $1.
Participating restaurants include: Anodyne Coffee, Beans and Barley, Bella's Fat Cat, Circle A, G-Daddy's BBC Bar & Grill, George Webb, Gils Café, Hi-Hat Lounge, Koppas Fulbeli Deli, Lakeview Buffalo Farm, Loads of a lot Chili, McBob's Pub and Grill, Milwaukee Ale House, Philly Way, Q - Real American Food, Real Chili, Soup Bros., Soup Market, Soup Otzies, Soups On, The Foundation, The Knick, The Retox Center, The Riverwest CO-OP, The Silver Spring House, The Wicked Hop, TLC Soup Company and Wild Flour Bakery.
Proceeds benefit WMSE 91.7 FM, the award-winning, non-commercial radio station owned and operated by Milwaukee School of Engineering. It wouldn't be a WMSE event without great music, so Jonny Z and Dietrich will be on-hand to DJ throughout the day. Lakefront has its own parking lot, plus additional street parking.
